Jan Hagara's - Emily

I just found out from a friend the picture I embroidered from a stamped kit is based on artwork from Jan Hagara. Her name is Emily and appears to be the same as the figurine released in 1984-1985. I had no idea this was a collectible print.
found the kit on ebay!
I fell in love with this design when my daughter was a little girl, so I just had to embroider it. At the time this image depicted her look to a T = the long curly hair and Victorian dresses she wore day in and day out, up until about the 4th grade. Except for one little detail, my daughter was blond and her dolls usually brunettes. Now upon close inspection of the embroidery I can see the artist's name imprinted on the bottom right where I embroidered my daughter’s name over it. Pam thanks for the history!

  1. Congratulations on your new blog! I used to love those those kind of kits, especially in crewel. I did a few Norman Rockwell paintings in crewel from kits and hung in my home in Long Island.

  2. Thank you. Those kits were great. I remember the Norman Rockwell kits as well. I once did one in cross stitch that took forever to complete. It was eventually going to be 6 scenes on a baby blanket that I was making for my son. Got through the first scene but never went beyond it.
